Pok Fu Lam Village

"Pok Fu Lam is a valley between Victoria Peak and Mount Kellet, around Telegraph Bay.

At the centre of Pok Fu Lam is an indigenous village, the Pok Fu Lam Village (薄扶林村), which is often mistaken as a shanty town by the residents of the surrounding apartments, who are nevertheless attracted by Pok Fu Lam's quiet, green environment.
Not surprisingly, there are a significant number of expatriates living in Pok Fu Lam, many of whom work at the nearby University of Hong Kong

Pok Fu Lam Village is a historic village, It has existed since the beginning of the 17th century.
Local residents in the past have repeatedly asked the government to give indigenous inhabitants of Pok Fu Lam the same recognition as residents of the New Territories. "

Above is a brief history of Pok Fu Lam Village adapted from Wikipedia,

Last weekend, I was given a chance to visit this historical place located in Hong Kong Island.
It was actually a photography assignment I signed up for when I first started university in HKBU.
This was not a place that tourists would visit on a daily basis and only here will you be able to have a glimpse on life in Hong Kong back in the days.

It was an eye-opening experience as it really contrasts what you expect modern-day Hong Kong to be.
The vast contrast and complexity of the roads leading to the village made it an exciting place to shoot.

Before starting the journey, we had dimsum at a local place which I forgot to take a picture :(
It was a shame as it's architecture is what caught my attention the most.
You won't notice it if you didn't look hard enough as the entrance was a narrow opening but once inside, the little restaurant was actually really big and spacious.
It looked exactly like the 90's Hong Kong movie scene!

We even visited The University Hong Kong (HKU).
One of their student residence halls is actually a historical building.
Sucker for olden-day architecture here!!
After that we went to the Bethanie building opposite HKU student residence halls.
There was a little Dairy Farm Museum down there.
This little place is famous for holding wedding ceremonies.
The british architecture makes it the best place for wedding photos to be taken~

This blog post won't have a lot of words, only pictures to see :)
Hope you like it~

Photos from here on are taken at HKU.
